Basketball: points, overtime and bonus clauses
Basketball has high scores and no draw in the final result, which changes market logic compared with football. Point handicaps and total lines are the core markets, and overtime is often included in settlement. For sports-bonus users, knowing these rules avoids bets that do not count or that end up refunded.
Main markets
| Market | How it works | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Moneyline | Who wins the game | Usually includes overtime |
| Point handicap | Points given or taken | Whole-number lines can push |
| Total points | Over or under X points | Check whether overtime counts |
| Quarters and halves | Result of a specific period | Settles on that period only |
| Player points | Individual markets | Void rules if the player does not play |
Overtime
Unlike football, many basketball markets include overtime. A total-points bet can be decided in the extra minutes. Read the market rule: «including overtime» or «regular time only».
Pushes and wagering
Handicaps and totals with whole numbers can land exactly on the line, refunding the bet. Refunded bets usually do not count toward a bonus's wagering. Illustrative example, not a Jonbet condition: a −5 handicap and a 5-point win refund the stake. If you needed that bet to finish wagering, it adds nothing. Half-point lines (−5.5) avoid this.
Minimum odds and accumulators
Sports bonuses usually set minimum odds. Heavy favourites on the moneyline have low prices; handicaps tend to balance prices near 1.90. In accumulators, minimum odds may apply per selection or to the total — the terms say which.
Live basketball
Live odds swing with every possession, and scoring runs flip the favourite within seconds. If the bonus accepts in-play bets, confirm the price at the moment of placing the bet. Some platforms ask you to accept odds changes; with a bonus, a price that drops below the minimum can take the bet out of wagering.
Player markets
Points, rebounds or assists markets have void rules if the player does not take the court. Void bets do not count toward wagering and the stake is returned. Late team news is common in basketball, so player markets placed early carry an extra risk of being voided.
